Chamma Chamma
This music video was included in the bonus features with Baz Luhrmann's Red Curtain Trilogy of Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet. It is what is referred to as an item number and is from the 1998 Bollywood movie China Gate (inspired by Seven Samurai). The dancer is Urmila Matondkar, a well known Indian actress, singer and dancer. She is apparently something of an Indian version of Shakira. Chamma Chamma is actually sung in the video by Alka Yagnik, perhaps India's most famous female playback singer. Indian actresses routinely request that Yagnik's singing voice be dubbed over their own. For some reason, this video has always made me smile and has been a real upbeat mood "picker upper". A little weird, I know, but some things just cannot be explained. Maybe I am a closet Bollywood fan and just don't know it. Anyway, I was browsing the internet today using a really cool Firefox add-on called "Cool Iris" and something popped up that reminded me of this video. I found it on YouTube and decided that it would be my first video posting on Nailing Jello. Enjoy it or not, it's up to you.
